The village of Turrach is located in the upper Mur Valley, nestled in the Gurktal Alps and belongs to the municipality of Stadl-Predlitz in the district of Murau in Styria, Austria. Turracher Höhe itself, however, is located in Carinthia and is part of the popular Nockberge tourist region. This region is enriched by the Nockberge Biosphere Park, a strictly protected natural idyll with an impressive diversity of species.
The village of Turrach has only around 120 inhabitants, while the entire municipality of Stadl-Predlitz is home to around 1,700 people. From Predlitz, the Turracher Straße, which runs through the village of Turrach, leads up to the Turracher Höhe. The pass connects the two Austrian states of Carinthia and Styria. To the west, only about 15 kilometers away as the crow flies, is the state of Salzburg.
A striking point in the region is the Eisenhut, whose summit is 2,441 meters above sea level and is the highest point in the municipality. The impressive view of this peak can be experienced wonderfully via the webcam in Turracher Höhe.
