Kössen is located in the Leukental valley in the province of Tyrol in Austria and belongs to the district of Kitzbühel. The municipality lies at 588 meters above sea level in a wide basin between the Chiemgau Alps in the north and the Kaiser Mountains in the south. The Unterberghorn, which is the local mountain of Kössen and Kirchdorf in Tirol, reaches an altitude of 1,773 meters. Together with the villages of Walchsee, Schwendt and Rettenschöss, the municipality of Kössen forms the Kaiserwinkl tourist region. Alongside St. Johann in Tirol, Kössen is one of the most popular vacation resorts in the Kitzbühel region in the Kaiser Mountains. How high is Kössen in Tyrol?

The Tyrolean municipality lies at 588 meters above sea level in a wide basin between the Chiemgau Alps in the north and the Kaiser Mountains in the south. The Unterberghorn, which is the local mountain of Kössen and Kirchdorf in Tirol, reaches an altitude of 1,773 meters. The north side is accessible by ski lifts for skiing and hiking tourism. The secondary summit of the Unterberghorn, the Hefferthorn, rises to 1,735 meters above sea level. The majority of the mountain massif is part of the Hefferthorn - Fellhorn - Sonnenberg nature reserve. The Fellhorn, located on the eastern side of the Achental valley on the border with Germany, reaches a similar height to the Unterberghorn at 1,764 meters.
