Borkum is an island in the North Sea and belongs to the federal state of Lower Saxony in Germany. Together with the islands of Juist, Norderney, Baltrum, Langeoog, Spiekeroog and Wangerooge, it forms the East Frisian Islands and is the largest of this archipelago. Located to the west, Borkum is close to the Dutch border, making it easy to reach by ferry from Eemshaven in the Netherlands. The island can also be reached by ferry from Emden in Lower Saxony.
