The municipality of Ahrntal with its administrative centre Steinhaus is located in South Tirol/Italy. It is home to 5,800 people and is part of Riesenferner-Ahrn Nature Reserve. The landscape is characterised by 80 mountain peaks higher than 3,000m, Schwarzstein and Großer Löffler are the most famous ones.

Klausberg Mountain and its varied scenery and stunning nature attracts many tourists all year round. While in the winter Klausberg’s pistes are known to skiers worldwide, families enjoy Family Park in the summer. The park can easily be reached by foot, bike or K-Express gondola at Steinhaus base station. All attractions, but the Alpine Coaster "Klausberg-Flitzer", of the Family Park are for free for children. Many of the trails are wheelchair and stroller accessible and offer every hiker charming views of the region.
Bicycles are a great way to explore Summerworld Ahrntal, either individually or on a guided mountain biking tour, starting at the top station. The effort will be worthwhile considering the view awaiting at the top. Every hike’s highlight should be a dip into one of the pristine mountain lakes.
For everyone looking for more adventure and challenge a rafting tour or paragliding is a must. Ahrntal has also a lot to offer culturally, such as the old mine in Prettau, Kornkasten Mining Museum in Steinhaus and Taufers Castle.
The traditional return of the cattle to the valley is the important event in the autumn. Kristallalm or Almboden offer traditional and local delicacies.
In the winter Speikeboden and Klausberg ski resorts attract many visitors. Winter starts early in the most northerly valley of South Tirol. Most of the peaks get the first snow as early as September. In the winter Ahrntal turns into a winter sports paradise. Skiworld Ahnrtal comprises the two family-friendly ski resorts of Klausberg and Speikboden, offering perfectly groomed pistes and state-of-the-art lifts. Only one ski ticket is needed to access more than 73 kilometres of pistes and 23 lifts. The ski resort can guarantee snow throughout the winter due to artificial snow making facilities. And everyone who still needs more skiing can visit Kronplatz, Bruneck, via shuttlebus. Rein/Taufers and St. Johann boast beautiful cross-country skiing trails. The region’s tobogganing runs are fun for everyone.
Snowshoe hikes or ski tours are probably the best ways to explore this winter wonderland. Sand in Tauferns has one of the most charming Christmas markets.
