Val Senales/Schnalstal in South Tyrol offers a variety of outdoor activities all year round. In winter , the Alpin Arena Schnals with around 35 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes ranging from wide carving trails to challenging downhill runs invites you to top sporting performances. A special highlight for every adrenaline junkie is the Leo Guschler piste. This black slope is a training course for slalom and giant slalom and offers the elite in alpine skiing the opportunity to complete their first challenging training sessions on the Val Senales Glacier in the fall. Thanks to the technical cut of the 550-metre course, the grippy surface offers the best conditions for all professionals. The slope was named after the Schnals pioneer and visionary Leo Gurschler, who built the only glacier ski area in South Tyrol on the Hochjochferner in the 1970s. The Schmuggler descent is also particularly impressive, leading over eight kilometers into the valley. The webcams in Schnals give you an insight into the current snow conditions and inform you about open lifts and pistes.
In summer , the valley is transformed into a paradise for hiking and mountaineering. With over 300 kilometers of marked hiking trails, ranging from Mediterranean vineyards and orchards to the glacier regions of the Ötztal Alps, there is something for every level of difficulty. Climbing walls also offer exciting challenges and breathtaking views. The highest cable car in South Tyrol, the Schnalstal Glacier Cable Car, not only provides access to ski areas, but is also the starting point for numerous summer activities. No matter what time of year - the Schnalstal Valley fascinates with its nature, which ranges from the Mediterranean atmosphere to high alpine regions.
