Pontresina is a picturesque municipality in the Engadin, in the Maloja region of the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. The municipality lies sunny and sheltered from the wind at 1,805 m in the Val Bernina, a side valley of the Engadine, not far from the luxurious ski resorts of St. Moritz and Samedan. Nestled in the Bernina Pass, the mountaineering village of Pontresina is very close to the massif of the same name with the famous peaks of the Engadin: Piz Palü, Muottas Muragl, Corvatsch, Morteratsch and Piz Bernina, the highest peak in the Eastern Alps. With the webcam in Pontresina, you can look out over these peaks and enjoy the impressive mountain scenery.
Pontresina is known for its mix of traditional Engadine houses with sgraffito decorations and elegant Belle Époque-style hotels. The region offers numerous leisure activities, including hiking, mountaineering, skiing and cross-country skiing. Thanks to its proximity to the Morteratsch and Roseg glaciers and the Diavolezza and Lagalb ski areas, Pontresina is a popular destination for nature lovers and active vacationers.
