Oberwölz is a small community located in the so-called Wölzer Tauern, which are part of Niedere Tauern Mountains. The community was established in 1927 following the separation from Schönberg, in 2015 the two municipalities reunited. The village lies at 1038 m a.s.l., its inhabitants mostly work in the agriculture, forestry and tourism sector.
Lachtal is a high valley and a renowned winter sports resort. About 35 km of ski trails make it one of the biggest ski areas in Styria. The area is known for its child-friendly infrastructure. The Kinder-Lachtal is the perfect terrain for children to have fun: magic carpets, Teddy-ski lift, figure course and lots more. But also cross-country skiers, tobogganists, freeride skiers, mountaineers and hikers will thoroughly enjoy the visit as the surrounding mountains range between 2000 and 2500 meters. The city of Graz can be reached within an hour.
Glischger Arcade Courtyard, a farm built in the 16th century, is one of the community’s sights.
