Stuben is one of the hotspots of winter tourism in Austria, and the Arlberg region with its large ski areas, cross-country ski trails, toboggan runs, winter hiking trails and freeride routes is definitely worth a visit. From Stuben, the Albona cable car takes you to the mountain station of the first section, a wonderful descent takes you to Alpe Rauz and further lifts take you up to Zürs am Arlberg. The ski resorts on the Arlberg have around 300 kilometers of pistes in all levels of difficulty; the top-class ski resorts include Lech, Zürs, St. Anton, Warth, Schröcken, St. Christoph and Stuben. On the Arlberg there are fun parks, deep snow slopes in open terrain, practice slopes for children and much more. Take a look at the famous ski area on the Arlberg with the webcams and enjoy the impressive panorama.
The high-altitude trail in Lech is a highlight for cross-country skiers, where you can ski right into spring. The tranquil village of Stuben is a little quieter than the ski area. The hotels and accommodation offer a wide range of wellness and relaxation programs and pamper their guests with first-class culinary delights. The pistes in the ski resorts can be perfectly groomed from December to April, so nothing stands in the way of a long ski season on the Arlberg.
The White Ring is a legendary ski route on the Arlberg, running for 22 kilometers and over more than 5,000 vertical meters around the Omeshorn. Between runs, you can relax on the six lifts and enjoy the view of the mountains in the ski area. The descents on the circuit are easy to moderately difficult and can be interrupted for a rest on the viewing platforms at Rüfikopf and Madloch. A unique experience is taking part in "The White Ring Race" on the route that leads via Zürs and Zug am Arlberg. The longest ski race in the world has been held on the White Ring since the 2005/06 winter season. Over 1,000 racers from various countries take part in this spectacle every year. The record time is just under 45 minutes, but normal skiers should allow at least 2 hours for the beautiful 22-kilometre circuit.
