The Ilztal and Dreiburgenland regions offer a wide range of opportunities to discover nature and culture. One fantastic hiking trail is the Ilz Valley hiking trail, which leads through light-flooded valleys, deep gorges and past rock formations. The hiking trail has an easy to moderate level of difficulty and is therefore also suitable as a family hiking trail and can be discovered in stages or over individual sections as a circular route. There are crossings at Dießensteiner Mühle, Schneidermühle, Schrottenbaummühle, Kalteneck, Fischhaus and Oberilzmühle. The weather camera in Büchlberg allows you to quickly check the weather conditions for your outdoor activities.
A special highlight is the "Büchlberger Acht" hiking trail, which leads past eight impressive stations. From the boulder fountain to the Stoahauer Museum and the observation tower at Bergholz, the trail offers a variety of insights into the history and nature of the region. The 25-metre-high observation tower opens up a breathtaking view that stretches from the Alps to the mountains of the Bavarian Forest - a panoramic view that is also captured by the Livecam in Büchlberg.
There are also long-distance hiking trails that can be discovered: These include the Goldsteg, the Via Nova European pilgrimage route and the E8 European long-distance hiking trail.
