Dorfgastein is situated at 812 m above sea level in the province of Salzburg. The community has 1.481 inhabitants and covers an area of 54,07 km².
Dorfgastein and Großarl form a big ski area with slopes and runs of any difficulty. Lifts take skiers and snowboarders to the Fulseck Mountain, allowing a fantastic view to the Dachstein and Großglockner mountains. Winter holidays in the Gastein Valley are completed by the neighbouring Großarl ski area as well as the powder snow paradise of Sportgastein. Holidaymakers can choose from 200 km of perfectly groomed pistes served by 50 modern ski lifts.
By the way: the Gastein Valley belongs to the Salzburg ski group Ski Amadé. It is one of the biggest ski groups in the world including 28 destinations in Salzburg and Styria. Holidays in Dorfgastein also include the ski areas of Hochkönig, Saalbach-Hinterglemm or Obertauern.
In summer Dorfgastein combines sports and wellness holidays: discover the Gastein Valley and some traditional cottages on 350 km of hiking trails, or take the Gastein cable-car and enjoy the fantastic view to the Hohen Tauern Mountains. In the evening relax in one of Gastein’s thermal baths. The Gastein Cure, known for many centuries, draws on the healing powers of thermal water – no wonder this region is one of the most popular destinations in the Alps. The Dorfgastein hotels are looking forward to your visit.
