Leukerbad is the largest thermal spa resort in Switzerland: around four million liters of hot water (up to 51 °C) gush out of 65 springs every day. The three public thermal baths offer everything that promises relaxation: families can enjoy fun and relaxation in the Leukerbad Therme, the Valais Alpentherme & Spa impresses with its outdoor pool, sauna village and Roman-Irish bath, and the Therme 51° is certified as a Swiss Spa. Especially in winter, bathing in the hot water under the open sky is an incomparable experience.
Active holidaymakers get their money's worth in the warmer months with hiking, biking and climbing. Popular routes lead from the Gemmi Pass over Lake Dauben to Kandersteg or up the Torrenthorn with views of the Rhone Valley. The thermal spring footbridge in the Dala gorge brings visitors very close to the warm spring water - including a waterfall and viewpoint. The Gemmi and Torrent cable cars provide easy access to the starting points for tours. Whether a high-altitude trail, mule track or panoramic circular trail: the region offers an impressive network of alpine hikes.
Climbing enthusiasts can experience additional heights on the Gemmi - for example on the Daubenhorn, the longest and most challenging via ferrata in Switzerland. Mountain bikers will find 225 km of routes in the Pfyn-Finges bike region - including the popular Torrent Trail or the Monster Ride back to the valley on a scooter.
In winter, Leukerbad shows its sporty side: the Torrent ski area offers 50 km of pistes with views of twenty Valais four-thousand-metre peaks. The sports arena in the center attracts visitors with a family lift, snow park and ice skating facilities. On 18 km of cross-country ski trails and 50 km of winter hiking trails, those seeking peace and quiet can experience the tranquil beauty of high winter - the 9 km panoramic trail from the Gemmi Pass to Sunnbüel is particularly popular.
