Finkenberg offers a variety of experiences that appeal to both nature lovers and culture enthusiasts. One particular attraction is the Zillertal Alps Nature Park, which has been under protection since 2001 and preserves the unique high mountain landscape. The nature park is jointly managed by the province of Tyrol, the Austrian Alpine Association and the tourism associations of Mayrhofen and Finkenberg. There is a varied hiking program for guests, which shows the impressive nature of the Alps. The weather cameras in Finkenberg provide you with wonderful snapshots of the surrounding area at all times and whet your appetite for excursions and explorations.
Another highlight takes place every year in September: The traditional Finkenberg cattle drive attracts numerous visitors. Sheep and Haflinger horses return to the village from the mountain pastures and are celebrated in style at the so-called "Schafferfest" . Since 1985, this event has delighted many people who follow the breeders, herdsmen and shepherds on their long journey home and experience the return of the animals from the summer pastures.
In spring, when the snow melts, the Zillertal attracts the first hikers and mountain bike fans. The extensive alpine landscapes with the peaks of the Tux and Zillertal Alps offer the best conditions for sporting activities in the fresh air. The Finkenberger Almbahn or Eggalmbahn cable cars offer countless opportunities to explore the Alps. The sections of the long-distance hiking trails such as the Tiroler Höhenwanderweg, the Tiroler Adlerweg or the Berliner Höhenweg are particularly attractive, offering breathtaking views and a special experience in the Zillertal.
A cultural highlight is the annual Finkenberg Open Air in summer, when the village is transformed into the "Schürzenjäger stronghold" . Fans of the band gather at the Finkenberger Almbahnen festival grounds, where thousands of fans celebrate the big alpine rock party together with the Schürzenjägers.
